Lasso Professional 8.5 + Lasso Server 9 Dev Server
We are very excited with the release of Lasso Server 9. This release brings blazing performance and great new features to the Lasso platform, as well as supporting modern platforms such as CentOS 5 Linux and FastCGI.
A popular question our customers have asked is whether it is possible to install Lasso 9 on an existing MWS server. The answer is usually no, as our Lasso 8.5 servers have been based on CentOS 4, and Lasso 9 requires CentOS 5
Although not officially supported, Lasso 8.5 does run well on CentOS 5 with a few tweaks to the install process. Lasso 9 can then be installed alongside 8.5
Getting this combination installed and correctly configured can be time consuming, especially for those who are not experienced with Linux servers. Therefore we have created an MWS server template with both versions pre-installed and ready to go.
This configuration is ideally suited to developers who would like to try out Lasso 9 but also need the ability to run Lasso 8.5 code side by side. Our template server includes a sample virtual host configuration with 2 pre-configured directories: code in one runs under 8.5, code in the other runs under 9.
To celebrate the arrival of Lasso 9 we are offering a special Developer MWS plan:
